Royal Theatre
The Royal Theater was built in 1940, based on the designs of architect Konstantinos Doxiadis, with the purpose of serving as the stage for the Royal Theater of Athens in the city of Thessaloniki. Thus, the building was given the specific name, which is retained to this day. It started as an open-air theater with a provision for covering with thick canvas, and soon it was converted into a covered theater. The Royal Theater is among the few significant buildings of modern architecture in the interwar period in Thessaloniki.
