The Fountain of the Fountain square
Τhe Fountain of Thessaloniki, located on Egnatia Street, is a notable element of the city’s historical urban equipment and is closely connected to the administration of Sabri Pasha during the last period of Ottoman rule. The grand boulevard Boulevard Hamidye, today’s Ethnikis Amynis, terminated at the Fountain, a gift from Sultan Abdul Hamid who envisioned it. For many years, the city remembered that during its inauguration, it flowed with cherry syrup.
